Our History

Kaisugu Ltd was incorporated in Nairobi, Kenya on 2/8/1929. It is a private limited liability Company with 100% local shareholding, corporate in nature. The management structure includes 6 non-executive members of Board of Directors, one executive Managing Director, Senior management staff, upper and lower cadre employees. The Directors themselves have a rich mix of wealth of diverse experiences in their backgrounds which are invaluable in running the company well. On day to day basis, the Company is run by a Managing Director assisted by a competent team of 5 able managers each heading a department. The company employs about 2200 employees.

THE COMPANY

Kaisugu Limited is registered as a private company established in 1928 as a tea estate. The company is located in the highlands west of Rift Valley in Kericho, altitude of 2,300 above sea level. Approximately 275 KM from Kenya’s capital Nairobi. Today, the company has over 330 hectares of tea plantation and a factory with a capacity to process 120,000 Kgs of green leaves per day. Kaisugu draws its tea leaves from both own estates and outgrowers managed through a comprehensive farmer outreach programme.

The company prides itself with internationally recognized certifications of its operations that include Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS), Rainforest Alliance (RA) and Tea Board of Kenya mark of origin.
Kaisugu exports 80% of its total productions while its 20% is sold in the local market through its brand mark Kaisugu Classic Tea
